I lived 9 yrs in London before this and before that lived with my parents and i hated london for the first 6 months when i moved there as i had never been away from home but in the end i made friends had a job etc. <br> Here its more the laguage barrier etc which is really hard and effects the way i can live. But it is a lovely country with nice people. Certainly in England they are fantastic value and sell all kinds of exciting things - hiwever, most of the stuff that I buy there is European, so not sure what a Roman version will be like. You should definately do something fabulous on your birthday. If I was in Rome I would eat, walk, go to a market or two and then find a couple of Caravaggios to gaze at. The trick is to use some good pickling spice, but you can buy these in tiny little packets (I think Schwartz do them) - maybe you could get someone to mail you a packet.
