So envious that it is hot. We have blue skies at the mo but leaden clouds are looming on the horizon - I guess that means more rain. Despite it being June I am getting more wear out of my Ugg boots than my strappy sandals xx

Thank you :) you dont realise how hard it is til you do it. I lived 9 yrs in London before this and before that lived with my parents and i hated london for the first 6 months when i moved there as i had never been away from home but in the end i made friends had a job etc.
Here its more the laguage barrier etc which is really hard and effects the way i can live. But it is a lovely country with nice people. Thankyou for you comments, that you think that im strong even when i dont feel i am :D

I stumbled onto your blog when I researching a trip to Italy and was drawn in by your frank postings. I hope you find resolution soon, as living in the doldrums is no way to live happily. After reading your posts I think you are brave to uproot yourself from the familiar and leap into love and trust. So no matter what the ultimate results are, you have much to be proud of in yourself. My best friend had an Italian boyfriend for two years and she said that he wanted her to do everything like his mama did. He was very handsome, charming and fun though with a great accent so it was a fair swap xx

Glad Ciro is a bit better. Why are men so funny about birthdays. It's Ades 40th on Wednesday. I was planning a bit of a party for him (not massive, just close friends and family, champagne, excellent food and great music) but he said that he would hate to be the centre of attention. So, on his birthday we are going to yoga class!!!!!!!

I think you should book a restaurant. I wish I had gone ahead with my plans as I think he would have enjoyed it really xx

Lidl is fantastic! Certainly in England they are fantastic value and sell all kinds of exciting things - hiwever, most of the stuff that I buy there is European, so not sure what a Roman version will be like. You should definately do something fabulous on your birthday. If I was in Rome I would eat, walk, go to a market or two and then find a couple of Caravaggios to gaze at. Then I would probably eat some more - but I would want a cup of tea and a slice of cake though xx

Hang on in there!. I know it must seem really difficult but you are living in a fantastic place with someone who loves you and wants to share all the rubbish that life throws at us. And you have a gorgeous kitten. Keep trying with the language - most of us struggle to learn new languages and lots of people don't even try. I really hope it seems easier soon xx

Sadly, I don't think balsamic would be the same. The trick is to use some good pickling spice, but you can buy these in tiny little packets (I think Schwartz do them) - maybe you could get someone to mail you a packet. I always fancy custard cream biscuits when abroad - I rarely eat them at home...xx
